CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA / RankWire.AI / – Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion plan dedicated to financing vital infrastructure projects throughout the United States. Spanning 18 months, the initiative encompasses eligible activities from January 1, 2026, to July 4, 2027. It focuses on investments in digital infrastructure, energy systems, and essential public facilities, with the bank emphasizing support for projects in technology, power generation, transportation, water management, and other critical sectors.

Beyond traditional lending, the Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative integrates a variety of financial instruments. Bank of America will include qualifying primary-market loans, investments, capital markets transactions, and advisory services in its $250 billion target. Additionally, the program offers banking solutions and supply-chain services tied to eligible infrastructure developments. Financing can benefit both corporate entities and specific assets, as the bank leverages its corporate banking, investment banking, and markets divisions to assist clients pursuing major U.S. projects.
Digital infrastructure remains a key area within the program. Included projects comprise data centers, telecommunications networks, semiconductors, computing hardware, and related equipment. The energy segment covers conventional and renewable power generation, storage solutions, and distribution networks. Core infrastructure investments focus on transportation, electricity transmission, grid upgrades, water systems, critical minerals, and mining activities. The bank also highlighted that the initiative aims to address expanding infrastructure demands linked to computing, manufacturing, energy supplies, and domestic supply chains.
Funding spans technology, energy, and foundational infrastructure
The program will be overseen by Bank of America’s Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams, with all eight business lines actively participating. Jim DeMare, co-president of Bank of America, explained that the focus centers on infrastructure supporting economic growth, energy security, and technological progress. The bank intends to monitor qualifying transactions conducted within the 18-month window, with those activities contributing toward the total $250 billion commitment.
Employment growth and workforce development are also integral to the initiative’s objectives. The bank noted that infrastructure projects can generate jobs in construction, manufacturing, technology, and ongoing operations. It also supports training programs through collaborations with employers, nonprofit groups, and community colleges. In 2025, nearly $40 million was allocated to more than 730 workforce development partners across U.S. markets, focusing on skills training, educational opportunities, and job readiness.
Funding efforts will continue through July 2027
During 2025, Bank of America’s workforce partners helped connect over 90,000 individuals with employment opportunities. These organizations also provided training, education, or career preparation to more than 290,000 people, according to the bank. The figures are reported separately from the new infrastructure financing target. Karen Fang, global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, emphasized that large-scale infrastructure projects necessitate coordinated financing across multiple interconnected sectors. She also serves as co-head of Global Capital Solutions.
Progress tracking will be based on eligible financing activities completed within the program’s timeframe. The bank explained that this measurement approach aligns with the framework used for its existing $1.5 trillion sustainable finance goal. The new initiative concentrates on infrastructure development and modernization within the United States. Its July 4, 2027, conclusion date extends beyond the country’s 250th anniversary. The bank asserts that the effort aims to bolster infrastructure, foster job creation, stimulate economic activity, and support community development nationwide.
